About us

Welcome to PioneerSettler, your online guide to self-sufficient living, traditional crafts, and off-the-grid homesteading. Our mission is to empower people to live more sustainable, community-oriented, and skill-focused lives.

Our Story

PioneerSettler was founded by a group of homesteaders, craftspeople, and nature enthusiasts who wanted to share their knowledge and passion for self-reliant living.

They come from diverse backgrounds – some of them grew up on family farms, and others discovered a love for traditional skills later in life. However, all of them are united in their commitment to teaching practical, time-tested methods for living off the land.

Meet Our Team

Andy Pennington has been a farmer for over a decade. As a proud supporter of local produce, he is passionate about sustainable practices in farming and growing crops. Pennington mostly writes about implementing environmentally friendly techniques and the importance of buying fresh, local foods.

Lalya Morrow is very passionate about traditional woodworking. When she is not working in her workshop, she can often be found with her nose in a book about pioneer tools. Her friends often joke that she was born in the wrong century, but she would say she just likes to keep things “timber-ific.”

Conrad Robertson is a passionate advocate for self-sufficiency, homesteading, and living off the land. With over a decade of experience in sustainable living, he has transformed his rural homestead into a thriving example of eco-friendly practices and resourcefulness. Robertson’s experience began with a desire to reconnect with nature and live a simpler, more intentional life, which he now shares through his writing.

Our Values

At the heart of PioneerSettler are a few core values that guide everything we do:

  • Self-Sufficiency: We celebrate the joy and sense of empowerment that comes from acquiring practical, hands-on skills.
  • Connection to Nature: Modern life can feel increasingly disconnected from the natural world. We want to reconnect people with the rhythms of the land, teaching sustainable techniques that are in harmony with the environment.
  • Community & Tradition: The skills we champion have been passed down through generations. We give our best to revive these traditional practices, strengthen the bonds within our communities, and honor the legacy of our ancestors.
